The Geo-Institute of ASCE recently interviewed RECo’s own Susan Rafalko on the SoFi Stadium perimeter wall in Inglewood, CA. While almost entirely hidden from view, the 100-foot tall Reinforced Earth wall was the best solution when considering stadium height, seismic criteria, and the project schedule. Susan Rafalko is a Senior Engineer for RECo’s corporate engineering department and has been involved in the mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall industry for about 15 years. In her role, she assists other divisions of RECo’s engineering department nationwide on complex projects and geotechnical challenges. Susan earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and her Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering both at Virginia Tech. She has a professional engineering license in 16 states.
