This bridge, completed in 2013, replaced a railroad crossing on one of the major roads through the middle of Valdosta, Georgia. The two bridge abutments are on piles, and have a row of soil reinforcing strips connected to the backwall to carry horizontal loads from the bridge. The MSE abutment wall panels were designed to allow the contractor to easily avoid the piles when laying the reinforcing strips at each level.
