Completed in 2013, this project features two Reinforced Earth® MSE walls totaling a length of nearly half a mile, both topped with precast traffic barrier. One wall, just short of 1,000 feet long, includes a post-and-panel sound wall anchored to the top of the traffic barrier, requiring special design of the MSE wall and barrier’s moment slab. RECo worked with the engineer and supplier of the sound wall to ensure that the anchor post design on the barrier would allow for easy installation and proper performance of the sound wall.

Both walls also required special design to accommodate a variety of drainage structures immediately behind and penetrating through the wall face. The solution involved a system of back-up panels, field-installed steel angles, and cast-in-place headwalls.
