- Reinforced Earth®In 1978, the original stone-masonry dam was inspected thoroughly by the US Army Corps of Engineers and determined to be unsafe, and in imminent danger of collapse. Bulging of the downstream face was noted, with opening of the masonry joints, and loss of mortar. The reservoir level was immediately lowered to relieve pressure on the dam while a plan for repair was developed.
RECo designed and supplied an MSE wall with sloped concrete facing panels.
About two years later the solution was complete. RECo designed and supplied an MSE wall with sloped concrete facing panels. The wall was built in front of the existing stone structure’s spillway on the downstream side, providing permanent support. A cast-in-place finish was applied to the facing to allow for smooth flow of water over the spillway.
