The SR 522 Phase 3 project in Bothell, Washington, stands as a testament to the region’s commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure while also utilizing innovative engineering solutions. Situated approximately 20 miles northeast of Seattle, this project is part of the broader Sound Transit SR 522/NE 145th Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) initiative aimed at improving connectivity across the region.

Six Reinforced Earth® MSE walls, which total 54,000 square feet, support the widened roadway and pedestrian pathway. In one location the walls are offset, creating ramps for safe access between the roadway and the Burke Gilman Trail.

The SR 522 Phase 3 project includes the creation of Business Access and Transit (BAT) lanes in both directions, significantly enhancing bus rapid transit (BRT) services. The project is a critical component of the Stride S3 BRT line, which will connect Bothell to the future Shoreline South Link light rail station.
